As a pharmaceutical
process support company, the Honeyman Group offer a range of
engineering, project management, validation, analytical, training
and consultancy services to the pharmaceutical manufacturing
industry.
In February 1991
Trevor Honeyman formed Honeyman Associates. With a wealth of
experience in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily as an
analytical chemist, Trevor became heavily involved in the
manufacturing processing capacity of Glaxo’s, Barnard Castle site.
For many years, Trevor was a key player in Glaxo’s Quality Water
Strategy Group and in the course of time saw a business opportunity
to specialise in pharmaceutical water systems. |

Not long after being established by
Trevor, Dr. Alan Bateson and Trevor Rymer added their respective engineering
expertise in process and design to the company's resource base. As a result
of their consultancy services for quality water systems, contracts for
design and installation soon came flowing in. This in turn led to a number
of clients asking for a reliable analytical capability to handle their water
samples which saw the establishment of the Honeyman Analytical Services
Laboratory.
As the business expanded, Honeyman Water
(1997) and Honeyman Sterilisation (1999) were formed, increasing the service
offering and the number of individuals employed by the company. Making use
of the extensive consulting experience built up, training courses were
offered and the analytical capacity expanded from just a chemical capability
to include a microbiological laboratory.
In 2003, in order to simplify and streamline the organisation and to provide
a platform from which we could develop our services from our baseline of
water and sterilisation systems into broader areas of pharmaceutical manufacturing support, the three
companies were amalgamated into the Honeyman Group Ltd. The objective
remains to provide an increasing range of pharmaceutical process support,
building on our core expertise in quality water systems and
sterilisation. With no ties to any manufacturers or equipment suppliers
Honeyman provides objective independent analysis to ensure cost effective
solutions.
Having grown to a workforce of 40,
Honeyman Group Ltd opened its new headquarters and training suite (with
panoramic views over Teesdale) in September 2003 on the western edge of
Barnard Castle. The move into the new building allowed for the expansion of
the Analytical Services Laboratory in the nearby original building. The Honeyman Analytical Services Laboratory
now offers a comprehensive
range of chemical, physico-chemical, microbiological and endotoxin analysis
services and a BIER Vessel, with one of the largest
chambers in the world, allows us to perform D value determinations.
The portfolio of deliverables we supply has been identified by listening to our clients and by tailoring
our services and resource expertise to exactly match their needs and
requirements in these more competitive economic times when outsourcing is
often a more cost effective option. Looking ahead Honeyman aims to expand
its range of services and solutions to continually meet the evolving
requirements of its clients. |
