| Brian Reeks CEng, MIMechE, MIQA
Brian Reeks has long been recognised as a respected
international authority on sterilisation and was a founding member of Honeyman
Sterilisation in 1999. Although now retired, Brian continues to support the
Honeyman Group as a specialist advisor and consultant, advising on sterilisation
and autoclave validation projects.
Brian joined the Department of Health at the National Health Service Engineering
Centre in 1971 and soon became involved with the engineering aspects of medical
devices and medicinal product manufacture. As a result, he helped to develop
sterilisation standards for the NHS and delivered several training courses for
the Medicines Inspectorate.
After forming his own consultancy company, BDR, in 1983, Brian specialised in
sterilisation technology, and, in particular, the validation, auditing, testing
and troubleshooting of sterilisers. During this time, Brian developed the
popular Sterilisation - Principles in Practice course, which has since become
one of our key training courses and ran a large number of training courses on
sterilisation technology ‘on-site’ at many of the pharmaceutical and medical
device companies in the UK and Europe.
In 1999, Brian published ‘Understanding
the Operation and Validation of Autoclaves – A Practical Approach' which is
becoming a standard reference work for the industry and is now in its first
reprint.
