HONEYMAN GROUP SECURES CONTRACT WITH ASPEN - AFRICA’S LARGEST
PHARMACEUTICAL MANUFACTURER
03/08/2009
The Honeyman Group, the pharmaceutical process services specialist has
secured a contract with Aspen, Africa’s largest pharmaceutical
manufacturer.
The Barnard Castle-based company flew one of its expert technicians out
to Aspen manufacturing facility in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, to
validate a key part of their sterile manufacturing processes.
As part of a four-week project, James Sproat, Senior Validation
Technician, carried out an in-depth Performance Qualification of two
depyrogenation tunnels, which are used to ensure that packaging, such as
vials and syringes, are sterile before they are filled with product and
sealed.
Performance Qualification proves that the tunnels have been installed
and work to the manufacturer’s specification.
Aspen is the largest generic pharmaceutical manufacturer in the southern
hemisphere. It is a major supplier of branded and generic
pharmaceutical, healthcare and nutritional products to international
markets.
Honeyman Group delivers a range of technical services to the
pharmaceutical sector. These services encompass sterile manufacture and
quality critical utilities and include design and engineering,
analytical testing, validation and service and maintenance.
The company primarily operates within the European sector, but this
project represents increased prominence for the Honeyman Group’s
reputation in the global market.
Mark Thompson, Managing Director of The Honeyman Group, said: “This is a
major step forward in our dealings with the international pharmaceutical
market. Aspen is a globally recognised manufacturer and I hope that this
project is the start of a growing relationship with the Group.
“We are already in discussions with Aspen to work with them on further
validation projects as part of their ongoing commitment to exceptional
sterilisation processes and standards.”
